The Stooges were one of the pioneers of punk rock.  Originally comprised: of Iggy Pop on vocals, Scott Asheton on guitar, Ron Asheton on the drums, and Dave Alexander completing the group on bass. Iggy received the first half of his name from his band mates from an earlier group he was in called The Prime Movers and they dubbed him Iggy in homage to and earlier band he was in called The Iguanas. The Pop came from a local Ann Arbor MI character that he resembled and after that was always known on stage as Iggy Pop.
